General
Do you work alone?
Yes. NSCW is a one-person business: you work directly with me, from the first call to the last commit. If a project needs more hands than I can offer, I tell you up front.
Do you work remotely or on site?
Mostly remotely from Rotterdam. For a kick-off, a workshop or work involving hardware I am happy to come over; we agree on that per project.
Can you join an existing codebase?
Yes, that is the rule rather than the exception. I start by reading, building and testing before I change anything, and I follow the conventions that are already there.
Which language do you work in?
Dutch or English, whatever your team uses. Code, commits and technical documentation are in English by default unless you prefer otherwise.
Pricing and arrangements
What does it cost?
That depends on the arrangement: hourly, a fixed price per phase, or a maintenance agreement. After an introductory call you get a written proposal with a concrete price. All amounts exclude Dutch VAT (btw).
Who owns the code?
You do, once the invoice is paid. Exceptions, such as open-source components with their own licences, are listed in the proposal.
Will you sign an NDA?
Yes. Feel free to attach it to your first email so the conversation can get specific straight away.
Can I hire you just for advice or a review?
Yes. A code or architecture review, a second opinion on a technical decision or a performance investigation works well as a small hourly engagement.
Contact
How quickly do you reply?
Within one working day. Even when the answer is that I am not the right person.
Why is there no contact form?
Email works just as well, you keep your own copy, and none of your details have to pass through a form service.

Tell me what you are working on
A short email with some context is enough. I reply within one working day, even when I am not the right person for the job.
